Fishing

Recreational fishing with First Environmental trekking

Sport Fishing is one of the adventurous activities offered by our company since years. Nepal has a dense net of rivers and streams, as well as numerous lakes of cold water character. Nepal is a landlocked country, where snow-clad Himalayas, eternal glaciers, ice-cold torrents, clear-water and lakes contribute too much of its hydrosphere. These vast stretches of inland water support many and varied forms of freshwater life including fish. Many wild and scenic rivers and lakes of Nepal provide opportunities for recreational fishing.

Nowhere else in the Himalayan region could one find hundreds of kilometres of fine and cool crystal clear fishing waters, teeming with mahseer, snow trout, fresh water eel, and catfishes as in the upper reaches of the rivers Gandaki, Koshi and Karnali of Nepal. Angling in such beautiful waters amidst glorious scenery is a diverse, subtle and beguiling sport. The dancing and frolicking of fish are a worth seeing sight in the Himalayan rivers.

The fishing can be done through out the year. Still the best season to go fishing on the white waters is before and after the monsoon from February till April and October and November. Some popular fishing areas are Karnali, Betrawati, Indrawati, Babai is Bardiya, Chitwan's river confluences, Dolalghat, on Kodari Highway and Pokhara's lakes. Fishing is all the more fun in mountain streams. In the Terai river water large catfish, murrel and crap are found in abundance. There are some specific ethnic group in the hills and Terai region of Nepal whose lifestyle has been based on Fishing. Bote, Majhi, Tharu and Machhuwar are some of them.

Special Fishing Tour Programs with First Environmental Trekking

a) Fishing in Budi Gandaki (5 days)
Half way between Kathmandu and Pokhara Budhi Gandaki is a mystery river! Like the Marsyangdi, the Budhi Gandaki rises wholly in Nepal and drains the Eastern slopes of Manaslu and Ganesh Himal before flowing south through a steep - sided valley to join the Trisuli River upstream of Mugling.

Fishing here will certainly provide you a unique experience. At the same time you can observe typical Nepali villages, good mountain views and a little - traveled but easy river. The different varieties of fish can be seen frolicking in the water. The journey starts from Kathmandu to Arughat Bazaar and the desire to catch fish takes you to Arket Bazaar. The fishing area includes several places of Arket Bazaar, Seuli Bazaar and Arughat Bazaar. Forgetting the rest of the world you can relax and enjoy fishing here. This place is really wonderful with crystal clear water and you can go to beautiful blue water by boat as there is an opportunity to hook up the varieties of fishes such as mahseer, snow trout, fresh water eel, and catfishes. The high currents of the water make this adventure a memorable and challenging one. And the fish you catch here are really delicious if it is cooked. In addition to this, you can experience various cultural and traditional ethos of this small but diverse country.

After your unspoken interaction with these beautiful fish fauna you retrace your route to Arughat Bazaar and from there a picturesque drive brings you back to Kathmandu.

b) Fishing in Ankhu Khola (Netrawati) (5 days)
Ankhu Khola is yet another excellent destination for the subtle sport of fishing. It lies north in the Ganesh Himal region. You drive from Kathmandu to Khahare Bazaar which takes about six hours.
