Itinerary in Detail

Day 01 :

Arrival from Delhi at Paro international Airport, a representative from Baeyul Excursions will meet the guests and escort to Hotel. Check-in at hotel is followed by refreshments and orientation. Evening dinner and overnight in Paro.

Day 02 :

After breakfast we will visit the following places of interest. Five points
We drive 16 km upstream to Drugyel, where the legendary ruins of Drugyel fort stand prominenly overlooking the valley. Built to commemorate the victory over the Tibetan force (literally the fortress of victorious Bhutanese) In the 1951, an accidental fire burned the fort to ruins.
Kichu Lhakhang: One of the holiest and oldest temples built in 641 A.D by a religious king of Tibet, Chhoegyal Songtsen Gambo. He built 108 temples throughout his kingdom by means of his divine powers. Two of these temples, Kichu lhakhang in Paro and Jambay lhakahng in Bumthang, exist today within the border of Bhutan. It is from this time period Bhutan started practising Buddhism.

Dungtse lhakhang: Built in the form of Chorten in 1421 by a famous Tibetan lama, Thangtong Gyalpo (discoverer of iron). Inside the temple is one of the most extraoridinary collections of paintings in Bhutan.
The lama came to Bhutan in search of iron ore and built eight bridges, thereafter returned to Tibet. On the same time in Paro, a demon was terrorizing the valley and these very hills turned out to be her head. Thang Thong Gyelpo built a temple in the form of a Chorten to overpower her, as Chorten plays the part of of a nail, which immobilizes a demon at the same time as proclaiming the victory of Buddhism.

National museum (Ta dzong) in fact was a watchtower built around 1651. Collection includes Thangkas, paintings, stamps, statues and engraved slates, silverwork. A day's hike to Taktshang Hermitage (Tiger’s lairs) is located on the face of a sheer cliff above the Paro valley. During the Eighth Century, Guru Padmashambhava, the great buddhist master of Odiyana, arrived here riding on the back of tiger from the northeast Bhutan Khempajong and meditated here for three months. The sacred sites associated with precious Guru includes some that have the most dramatic and remote power place in the region. Taktshang is one of the 13 awesome tiger lairs frequented by this master. After visiting the site, we walk back to motor road and drive to town for lunch. In the evening there's leisure time.
